7 Major Reasons why you should avoid Eating Fried Foods

One’s mouth becomes watery when, people around you boast of fried foods. Weather one is male or female, young or old, maximum people have the fondness for the shiny, greasy food.

But, only few are  aware of the fact, what harm they do to themselves  and by  how much, unneeded calories along-with extra fats, that somebody adds to their body while munching on the deliciously harmful fried food, It  just adds you to the list of disease demon’s where you could be their next targets.

After all the famous quote which de-scripts it all, that “each human being can be said as a writer and they are the author for all diseases that affects them”.

So, if you are seeking for  a good brand restaurant, selling famous fried food with the great taste and awesome aroma, stop and have a quick glance on these reasons, before you are about to munch on any of these, greasy fried food.

7. Calories are good, but extra calories can be malicious!

First, we have the calories. When something is deep fried in oil, it multiplies the caloric density. If any food in oil is submerged, whether it’s a potato or some flour items, oil increases the calories, as fat is soaked up into every available space, in the food being fried, and also oil steals the natural mineral and oxidants required for our body, and turns the food into a tasteful dish with nothing to offer. And as we all know extra fat lead’s to obesity, which itself is the cause of many diseases. And then we have to make the struggle to get rid of those extra pounds.

6. The oil being used is always not the good one

Apart from the calories, the bigger problem is actually what the natural food is fried in. In restaurants, almost across the world, hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated vegetable oils are used which is code for Trans-fat. Trans fat is a man-made fat that improves the shelf life of processed foods, but at the same time, raises cholesterol and increases risk of heart disease and stroke.

All fats and oils a “smoke point” – a typical temperature at which the chemical structure deteriorates and starts forming toxic compounds. This is when oils turn rancid/toxic; and eating foods, fried in rancid oil cause increased oxidative stress on our body, leading to some complication’s like glucose intolerance, protein malfunction, hypertension and high cholesterol. Unluckily, healthier oils like olive, and vegetable oil have lower smoke points, meaning they form toxic compounds more quickly than the typical unhealthy fats like butter. The oil is used over and over in majority of the outside joints. Which means,  further oxidation and break down of oils. So ignorance can’t be bliss always, one has to take maximum care when we stop by, to have outside food.

5. Are we inviting cancer?

Change in the chemical structure of oils happens due to oxidation, as frying also changes the structure of other nutrients in whatever it is being cooked. Foods also lose   vitamins and minerals when fried, and everything changes to brown as maximum of carbon based minerals get burnt while cooking, which is not a good omen.

When carbohydrates rich products are heated to high temperatures in cooking and frying, they produce acrylamide, a carcinogen associated with cancer. So our body might become prone to cancer, as the high level of consumption of deep-fried foods confers   risk for developing prostate cancer basically found in men, changes at the cellular level are  also associated with cancer.

Deep  frying  also increases the formation of advanced glycation end products (AGE’s) on the surface of foods that, eventually  triggers the formation of some carcinogens such as acrylamides (found in carbohydrate-rich foods such as French fries), heterocyclic amines and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (chemicals formed when meat is cooked at high temperatures), aldehyde’s and acrolein.

Diet that includes fried foods has been postulated to be a responsible risk factor for inflammatory conditions of the lungs and even cancers of the breast, pancreas, head and neck.

5. Fried food makes our body filters aka “KIDNEY” functions bad.

KIDNEY                                                                                                               The death risk increases because kidney patients have an impaired ability to filter out the harmful fats consisted in a typically cooked fried food. People who have kidney disease have a harder time getting rid of a lot of the substance in the oily soaked food. It should be noted, however, that the study was only able to show an association between diet and the risk of death in people with kidney disease.

Those who eat fried food had more percent increase in their risk death. The majority of death from kidney disease is related to heart disease, as if someone develops kidney disease, one is much more likely to die from heart disease heart attacks, heart failure stroke   than someone who doesn’t have kidney disease. As kidney patients who ate a plant-based diet appeared to have an improved survival rate, thereby changing diet and making healthier choices in what one is eating, might help even if someone suffers from kidney disease.

4. Fried foods are nutrients destroyer.

Deep frying is bad as it adds lots of bad fats and empty calories to your food; it destroys the good nutrients in the food so we end up eating empty calories. There is nothing in it our body can use to enhance its functions. Many carry the myth, that deep-fried vegetable like mushroom or cauliflowers are nutritious. But the fact is, deep-frying process can actually destroy a lot of beneficial minerals and vitamins, as nothing that’s been deep-fried will ever be even close to healthy.

3. We are being put at the risk of high cholesterol and heart disease by the deep fried greasy food.

One is at greater risk for high blood cholesterol and heart disease if we eat a diet that often includes deep-fried, which are high in fat. Diets high in saturated fat and cholesterol tend to raise total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol .Whether it be deep or pan-frying, once while frying   we can see, there are a lot of bubbles. Those bubbles come from, Water inside the meat, getting dried up as long as that food is nice and moist, it will keep on bubbling, as the moisture  fights against the pressure and heat of the oil around it and stops it from soaking in. But when the moisture runs out, the food becomes a greasy oil food. Foods that are fried are high in fat as they are cooked in fat. When we fry foods, such as some specific meats like chicken or ham, that already consists of saturated fat, further frying adds more fat, so baking and roasting of meat is a more wise option.

2. Fried foods can lead to malfunctioning of the human brain.

Some oils like the sunflower and flaxseed oils degrade   when heated up to long hours, and are the ones that create the most toxic aldehyde’s in the least amount of frying time. These oils are high in polyunsaturated fats and breakdown quickly to form the health-demoting aldehyde compounds that permeate the air and penetrate into the food. But to the contrary, only few oils like, olive oil, known to be high in mono-saturated fat, generates aldehyde to a lesser degree, even though heated at low temperatures. It is important to avoid cooking with low flash-point oils that produce aldehyde’s and increase the risk of neurology disorders such as, causing improper functioning of the brain.

1. Can Trans fats be so harmful?

Believed by many well-known researchers Trans -fat provides a playground  for, wide arena of illnesses. As this type of fat increases the risk of hardening of the arteries (atherosclerosis), inflammation in the body, insulin resistance, autoimmune disease and Alzheimer’s disease  while Inflammation and insulin resistance themselves are linked to higher risks of many other health conditions, including cancer.

Trans fat also raises low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels (commonly known as “bad” cholesterol) while decreasing high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol levels (“good” cholesterol). Further, it could cause delays infant development when the mother consumes too much Trans fat. Fried foods clog arteries and lead to strokes and Alzheimer’s. Arterial plaque increases blood pressure.

Clogged veins and arteries are foremost cause of heart attacks. Most fried foods contain MSG (toxic salts) which is again a harmful substance for one’s body. Researchers have found that antacids present in heated oil prevent natural enzyme produced by the body. It also adds bad calcium. Fried foods cause inflammation of the body, which can create problems with joints .The inner portion of the arteries is meant to be smooth and unrestricted, but the jamming caused from these saturated fats and trans fats can cause hard deposits i.e.., plaque to form. Then, like a clog in a drain, blood flow can get completely blocked and result in a heart attack or stroke, especially if a piece of the plaque breaks away. Also, the closer the fat is in the heart, the more the heart is strained. It’s worse for men because the belly is closer to the heart than the hips and thighs, where women are more prone to keep the foods stored.

One needs to detoxify one’s blood and refortify organs. Intake of plenty of organic B vitamins and increase of natural foods as well as dairy items can help.

So it is extremely important to watch witness and scrutinize while, on an eating spree as, it’s our overall dietary pattern that matters. The more we spend on these deliciously bad fried foods the more  of that we will have to spend to get rid of those extra kilos as well as, to free ourselves from the disease that are gifted to us by those fried foods. We can definitely opt for a healthy life, while having our closest to the heart meals, but unless occasionally not making it a daily regime. As the very famous Italian designer, Elsa Schiaparelli, once quoted

“Eating is not merely a material pleasure. Eating well gives a spectacular joy to life and contributes immensely to goodwill and happy companionship. It is of great importance to the morale”

So, wish you a happy and healthy eating!

  • This article refers to the American “fried foods” and not the European “fried foods”. There is a big difference.
We in Spain and Portugal fry most of our food but never deep fry. We use a tp of olive oil and do not flash fry. A Mediterranean style stir fry and no French fries is a very healthy meal. We boil our potatoes.
